PLAYGROUND FENCING

The current wooden fencing around the playground is no longer fit for purpose, with ongoing repairs regularly required due to damage and vandalism. In addition much of the fencing has now reached the end of its usable economic life.

To ensure the safety of playground users, and to meet the estate’s original planning obligations (which we have recently been reminded of by the planning department), a new fence and gate system will be installed. The new fencing will be made of metal panels designed specifically for this type of environment. It will be significantly more durable and less susceptible to vandalism and general wear and tear.

Although the initial cost of metal fencing is higher than timber, it is expected to deliver long-term savings through reduced maintenance and a longer lifespan. As this is not considered routine maintenance, the cost will be covered through the estate’s reserve funds, rather than the regular service charge.

Work is planned to commence next week and we appreciate your understanding as we carry out this important improvement to the estate.
