Following the recent issue of our letter to all residents on this subject, we are aware of comments and allegations being made on a number of social media sites. This is something that has been going on for a long time and the Directors have concluded it needs to be drawn to the attention of all residents.
Much of what has been posted about the letter is by a very small number of residents who have clearly made no effort to consider the content of a clearly written letter, and as a result are posting conjecture, disinformation and lies, or are simply trying to create conflict.
It is also evident from much of what has been posted on social media previously that the same small number of residents have, for reasons known only to them, felt able to freely criticise anything and everything and yet show no interest in actually contributing to Watercolour.
Interestingly, some of these residents are not even prepared to reveal their name, posting as 'anonymous' on one site, yet amusingly, they then post on another site with their name, and it is relatively easy to work out they are the anonymous person on the other site.
Over time, there have even been posts directed at members of the Board that have led to discussions with the Police and consideration given to appointing solicitors.
We recognise that a majority of residents do not, for good reasons, follow or respond to the social media posts. We believe they realise we have inherited a complex and challenging situation after all the years of mismanagement prior to residents taking over the management company, and it will take considerable time and effort to resolve.
Furthermore, we believe the majority of residents also recognise that we are all volunteers with jobs, bar one retired person, and there is a limit to the time that can be allocated to management company matters.
We also believe the majority understand that it is better to only receive correct information for consultation and valid comment once the facts are clear.
By way of an example, there is no point in circulating the draft accounts information because we know they contain errors and therefore the information is either misleading or simply wrong. Some might say this is better than nothing, but the reality is it will simply lead to endless questions, some of which cannot be answered at this time, and waste Directors time that could be better spent trying to move things forward.
Returning to the previous letter itself, we have received a total of eleven emails in response. Of these, nine are seeking further information, either directly related to or associated with the matters referenced in the letter, one makes a proposal and one does not warrant a response. We have provided individual replies to the senders.
